After the stock market crash a few years ago everyone was trying to find a way to make money. I was one of those people and I was really hesitant about investing any money back into the market. However I started doing research on how some of the most well known investors made money and I discovered that some of them got into penny stocks trading. Penny stocks trading is when you invest and trade in stocks that cost anywhere from a fraction of a penny per share to $5 per share. And if you have a hot penny stocks list in your hand you can turn a very nice profit buying and trading these fairly inexpensive stocks.

A list of penny stocks is needed to get started in making money. You have to find a reliable source that is published by a legitimate firm that has done their research. See, penny stocks are pretty volatile as they usually represent the small companies across the nation. Many of these companies do not last very long and if you buy penny stocks in these companies you are setting yourself up to losing money as opposed to gaining it. If you are willing to add a little bit of risk into your life, then you can take a chance on good penny stocks to make some money.

I did my homework on these investments and the hardest part about penny stocks trading is the lack of information on the companies offering the stocks. Because these companies are so small they are not researched as thoroughly as large firms, leaving you with only a basic idea of what the company is about and how they are faring. This is frustrating but when you use a list of penny stocks from a reliable source to find companies to invest in you do not have to worry about the lack of information available.

There are plenty of options when it comes to using a penny stocks list to find companies to invest in. Yes, the stock market still has not completely bounced back from the most recent crash and recession, but these stocks are inexpensive and have the potential to become some serious players on the market when it does come back. Take your time finding a penny stocks list and then try a few small investments to see how you do. You may be surprised at the money you earn.

S&P 500

The stock market plunged as the Gulf Oil Crisis pulled the energy sector lower. The slowing activity in China and the ongoing debt crisis in Europe pushed the dollar higher while pushing commodities trended lower. The S&P 500 index ended at the low of the day breaking the 1075 natural support level on the 5 minute chart to 1071. 2010 is also the year for mid-term elections so expect major activity towards after November’s Election Day.

We have said that we will be within a trading range between 1075 and 1100 due to the slow volume summer months. The S&P 500 index is currently trading below the January 2010 resistance level and ended the day on Friday on the 200 day moving average on the daily chart of 1085.

Market volatility returned with the worst month of May in 60 years. The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) Market Volatility index (VIX) measures options activity within the market and is widely used tracking the S&P 500. A common trading strategy for traders and investors includes a VIX level of 30 or above means an immediate switch from equities to cash. Traders and investors are retreating from the markets and finding safety and protection within the Treasuries, gold, and the dollar.

As long as we stay above this level expect pessimism as we approach the slow summer months. Currently the VIX is above the 144 and 200 day moving averages on the daily chart. The index is above the 30 mark so unless it is below this level do not expect a confirmed rally or upside within the equities market.

S&P 500 Pivots

On Thursday the US equity indexes continued it’s May sell off philosophy. All the major indexes were down for the day amplified by the European debt crisis, the oil-spill in the Gulf, and the recent 1000 point crash in the Dow Industrials. After a three day sell off there could be a possible rally due to options expirations tomorrow as well as traders and investors getting out of their short positions prior to the weekend.

The S&P 500 index on the 5 minute chart fell for the third straight session trading below the 144 and 200 day moving averages. The 200 day moving average converge with Wednesday’s previous low at 1101 so expect resistance between 1100 and 1101 going into Friday’s trading day. Commodities are weaker due to the events listed above as well as a possible slowdown in China will drain global growth. Today jobless claims were released and a jump from 25k to 471k didn’t encourage the US equity markets.

Currently the index is below the 200 day moving average on the daily chart. We have told our readers before the S&P 500 is currently undergoing a correction. On the daily chart of the index is currently trading below the January 2010 resistance level of 1121. The first resistance level is 1100 and 1101. Expect the S&P 500 to find resistance breaking the second resistance level between 1117 and 1120 area as it is below the January 2010 pivot level of 1121. We had a three day sell off in equities as we approach Friday’s trading day. Tomorrow expect a mini rally due to options expiration.

The market volatility index (VIX) measures option activity within the market and is widely used tracking the S&P 500. Increasing volatility implies pessimism within the market and stocks sell off as traders and investors are seeking protection for their assets instead of risks.

A common trading strategy for traders and investors includes a VIX level of 30 or above means an immediate switch from equities to cash. Traders and investors are retreating from the markets and finding safety and protection within the dollar. Currently the VIX is above the 144 and 200 day moving averages on the daily chart. As long as we stay above this level expect pessimism as we approach the slow summer months.

Summary of Pivot and Technical Levels:

1219: S&P 500 52 Week High

1101: 200 day Fibonacci moving average on 5 minute chart

1100: Natural Resistance Level

1096: 144 day Fibonacci moving average on 5 minute chart

1127 – 1141: Major resistance level for the S&P for January 2010

S&P 500 Pivots

Many traders and investors covered their short positions on Friday before the weekend rallying the US equities markets. The switch from cash to equities also helped the euro strengthen. However disaster still looms over the euro regardless of Germany offering a bailout package up to $750 billion. The 16 member European Union still have high debt to GDP ratios that need to be addressed before the euro has some stability.

China is showing some slowing as rising inflation is causing a real estate bubble. A trade deficit occurred in March as imports are rising compared to exports indicating a slowdown in industrial manufacturing. The slowdown in the global economies as well as falling prices in metals is showing deflation around the world.

The SEC introduced a circuit break rule to prevent the ‘flash crash’ of May 6th to the S&P 500 equities. If the stock market drops down 10%, trading halts for 5 minutes before resumes. This rule is in effect until December 11th 2010.

The S&P 500 index shows its trading below the January 2010 resistance level as well as the 200 day moving average (1091) on the 5 minute chart. The index has to convincingly break the natural resistance level of 1100 to fully reverse the correction.

The 1085 is a important level on the S&P 500 index as it is currently near the 144 Fibonacci moving average on the 5 minute chart as well as the 200 day moving average on the daily chart. Currently the trend is still heading downwards.

1219: S&P 500 52 Week High

1100: Natural Resistance Level

1091: 200 day Fibonacci moving average on 5 minute chart

Swing trading can be the flawless complement to your day trading strategy. One of the most valuable benefits of supplementing a swing trading strategy intoyour trade design is it gives you the flexibility to spend your time the way you desire to.If you don’t have time to day trade, or the day trading markets aren’t going as favorably – you can choose not to day trade and still have a profitable swing trade for the day.

Have you every considered trading on the stock market, as a way of making extra money?I am thinking of day trading, spread betting, swing trading and online currency trading or foreign exchange trading, more commonly known as forex trading or fx trading. You may laugh, but I am not joking.I used to think finacial trading was something you could only do in a financial institution, or as a broker. I thought you had to work for a bank or with stock broker. Perhaps I was naive.I also thought that you would need specialist tools. I imagined trading on your own, was a stupid idea. I thought you could only lose money. Well, since then, I have learned that trading can be a very good way of making money. I have learned that trading is open to anyone. Anyone can be a trader, all you need is to learn how to do it. Although trading looks difficult, and complicated, it really isn’t if it’s taught correctly. This may sound a bit wild, but it’s not. After all, commercial traders, the career traders (men and women) who work for banks and stock brokers, have to learn how to trade. They aren’t born as traders. And they are no more a genius than you or I. To be a successful trader you just need is to learn how to apply some basic rules. Learning to trade is just like learning anything else. Just think how complicated and impossible some things seem until you realise that other people have learned how to do it – riding a bicyle, diving, hang gliding, or learning a language. There are skills you need to learn in order to master. Some people do better than others, but most people can survive. Of course, you need to manage some risks too.

I came across Lee Stanford, the founder of Trading College, at an event in London a couple of years ago. He used to be an internationally successful competing rubgy player. When he retired as a rugby player he took up trading and became extremely successful at it.

He was so successful at trading, he started his own school to teach others how to become successful traders. He started Trading College based in London, and it is now one of the most successful trading schools in the UK, and runs regular courses on day trading, swing trading and forex trading, and training people to manage the money markets.

His whole approach is to make trading simple, and to remove the mystique. He has developed a range of unique indicators to simplify the process – Trading with Colours – green for go, and red for stop!He has thought the process through really well. When you enroll for the Trading with Colours beginners course you get send some precourse stuff: four introductory videos to get you started, including (1) how to open an account, (2) charts, (3) trading strategy and (4) money management. This course is over several days and includes a very compreshensive introduction to trading, placing a trade, setting up your charts, managing trades, when to enter a trade, trigger pullback and entry, markets to trade and those to avoid, trading psychology, understanding trends, technical analysis, and automating your trades, and a lot more besides.I you are looking for the right work at home opportunity, online trading may just be what you are looking for.

Futures trading is now a 24 hour, seven days a week enterprise, and undoubtedly the main reason you are researching it. Like all financial instruments, the futures market is highly regulated, but not by the SEC. From crops such as corn or wheat, to oil, gold, and currency, commodities get traded on the futures market. Rice was undoubtedly the very first commodity traded at the original market of the Chinese. Here in the U.S. it began more than 150 years ago at the Chicago Board of Trade with the first agricultural futures contract. In 1982 options on futures was introduced, and in the 1990’s exchanges introduced electronic trading. In today’s market, because of automated software platforms traders cannot only compete with the pros, they can use these robots 24 hours a day. With limited exceptions, the trading of futures must be executed on the floor of a commodity exchange. Similar to broker-dealers that are members of the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. or some other self-regulatory organization, all firms and individuals who trade futures with the public or give advice about futures trading must be registered with the National Futures Association (NFA).Since most individual traders are speculators, here is a list of some of the advantages and disadvantages of the futures market over other investment possibilities. 1. The possibilities exist that a person can make more money faster in the futures market, because the speed of prices tend to change faster than stocks. Conversely, bad judgment can cause one to suffer greater losses than traditional investments.

S&P 500

The US markets rallied in the morning following positive trading activity within the foreign markets. However selling started once reality set into the minds of traders and investors that nothing fundamentally has changed within the markets. The debt crisis in Europe, BP oil spill, and the China slowdown. The futures started higher in the morning however it fell short of the 1050 resistance level on the S&P 500. Reality set in once ISM Non-Manufacturing numbers were released after 10am and it was lower than the consensus. Selling took place soon afterwards and the S&P 500 rested just above the 1025 natural support level.

Currently the S&P 500 is trading below the 144 and 200 day moving averages on the daily chart. In late June the market rallied just above the 1025 level however it could not break the January 2010 resistance level and it fell back. Due to the low volume summer months we do not believe we will break through the January 2010 until after the November mid-term elections.

The Market Volatility Index is currently between 25 and 30, which usually means that traders and investors are holding their positions whether it is equities or cash especially with the uncertainty within the global economy.

The markets do not have enough volume to push and stabilize the markets during the summer months and most likely stay between this range for some time. As you can see from the Volatility chart that beginning in May, traders, investors, and institutions started increasing their cash positions and stuck to the “Sell in May” philosophy.

As long as we stay above this level expect pessimism as we approach the slow summer months. Currently the VIX is above the 144 and 200 day moving averages on the daily chart. The index is at the 29.46 as of Thursday June 3rd so traders and investors may be inclined to switch to equities and cover their shorts.

However due to the low volume in the recent rally and liquidation of mutual fund investors due to frightening instances such as the ‘flash crash,’ European debt crisis and BP Oil Spill expect volatility will return and traders will prey and make money on both ends. Traders will buy when investors are fearful and sell when they are euphoric and confident.

S&P 500

After Memorial Day weekend beginning the half way point of the year and start of the slow summer season vacations all the market indexes are trading near levels seen on January 2010. Even the summer movies have a hard time getting off of ground such as the recent Memorial Day weekend movies: Prince of Persia and Sex in the City 2.

2010 has not been a great year as revelations are revealed concerning off shore drilling, European countries debt exceeding their GDPs, and the ‘flash crash’ fallout on May 6th. These uncertainties are adding volatility to the markets and traders and investors are seeking safety within Treasuries, gold, and the dollar. The market will continue to go lower as the volume of trades continues lower as we enter the slow summer months and low risk assets become more appealing.

On Friday the S&P 500 index ended the last trading day in May at 1089. We have mentioned that the 1090 resistance level is a major level to break. It was broken on Thursday due to a short covering rally and fell back.

The S&P 500 index is currently trading below the January 2010 resistance level and ended the day on Friday on the 200 day moving average on the daily chart of 1089.

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) Market Volatility index (VIX) measures options activity within the market and is widely used tracking the S&P 500. A common trading strategy for traders and investors includes a VIX level of 30 or above means an immediate switch from equities to cash. Traders and investors are retreating from the markets and finding safety and protection within the dollar.

As long as we stay above this level expect pessimism as we approach the slow summer months. Currently the VIX is above the 144 and 200 day moving averages on the daily chart. The index is also slightly above 30 so unless it is below this level do not expect a confirmed rally or upside within the equities market.
